Well, after the frantic day, which continued well into the night on Friday, the rest of the weekend was great! We stayed at Lake Rudolph during one of their "Hallow-Weekends" for 2 nights. Friday night, we basically just unloaded the groceries and made beds, generally got stuff organized then the kids went up to the main area to see what was going on. They came back and told Becca and me that they were having hay rides! So we headed up there and took advantage of it! They also showed the movie "The Mummy" but we passed on that. After the hayride we headed back and made some smores and talked around the campfire, decorated the golf cart for Halloween, and then took showers and talked til we fell asleep. Saturday started out at about 11 am. (YAY sleeping late!!) with some miniature golf. Then Joseph and Livi jumped in one of those blow-up houses. Then all the kids did some pumpkin decorating. After that, we went back and had lunch. The kids explored the great outdoors for a while after lunch, the it came time to get costumes on to go trick-or-treating. The kids all got a pretty good haul and I have had my share of the good stuff from each of my kids' bags...lol. Becca and I started peeling potatoes for supper while we handed out candy. We tried to give away raw potatoes, but the kids were not very receptive, except my son, who, when he was finished tricking, kept stealing raw potato from the bowl...LOL So the kids got back, we began to grill the potato/onion packets and the corn-on-the-cob packets over the hot coals in the fire pit...mmmmmmmmm and then the pork chops on the grill. It took longer than we thought, so, when it came time, I had to run the kids up to the costume contest before we could eat. Some of those costumes were so inventive...some of the winners were: a basket of dirty laundry and his little sister the washing machine, a trash can complete with it's own buzzing flies, and a pair of dice...LOL. After the judging, we went back to camp and had dinner, then the kids went to the dance while Becca and I cleaned up the dinner mess. We headed up there to see the kiddies and they were having a blast. Becca and I had to join in a few times. Dirich & Brie and Adam & Alyssa did a slow dance. Joseph danced with Becca and all the kids had a blast. Dirich and Adam kept trying to start conga lines, they all rocked out to AC/DC, even to the point of Adam rolling around on the ground playing a mean air guitar! It was such a blast. My neck hurts from head-banging, and my legs are sore from just dancing hard in general!! LOL We stayed up late again just talking and doing smores and then it was over....once we got up this morning, we had to get all packed up and "leave no trace"! Once that was accomplished, I started the van to a clickclickclick sound once again. We jumped it...AGAIN...and headed home. Becca had us all stop at Auto Zone to get them to test the battery and alternator...it was definitely the battery, which Becca changed right there in the parking lot! What a grease monkey she is, however, I now know how to change one out because it was pretty easy!! However, my engine light is on and they did a diagnostic check...something to do with emissions, which should be covered under warranty...we shall just see! Oh, I forgot to mention the four 18 year old girls who gathered around to dance with Joseph at that dance...he is SUCH a ladies' man...it was hilarious. I did get pictures and I'll get them posted ASAP! I hope you all had as awesome a weekend as I did, even with the Van troubles! I just thank God I had a friend who was willing to help me out by jumping my battery multiple times and eventually changing it for me just so I could go and have fun. Thanks Becca!
I haven't done this in a while.
